Welcome!! We’re saving you a seat….

Thornhill Baptist Church is a community of ordinary people based in the heart of the Thornhill and Harefield areas of Southampton. Everyone is welcome: the old and the young; the got-it-together and the battered and bruised by life; the convinced Christian and the unsure explorer. You can read about our church vision here.

We’d love you to join us, we’re saving you a seat… That seat can be in the church building at 10.30am every Sunday morning or it can be in your own home if you join us online. Either way, you will be extremely welcome – we’re family and you’re invited!

To join us online see the “Our Latest Service” link on this page or you’ll find our older services here.

We believe God changes lives…

Toby’s story

since then God hasn’t slowed down…

Having been going to Thornhill Baptist Church with my Mum since I was little, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t believe in God, but I never had a particularly strong relationship with him. I’d pray and worship in Sunday School, and when I did, I’d think of him as some distant God rather than my Father who was with me. As I grew older, my faith steadily developed, I started to take part in other church groups throughout the week and meeting other Christians my age inspired me to move away from being a lukewarm Christian and develop my relationship with Jesus.

In the end of 2024, following a friend’s advice, I picked up the bible and began reading Romans, slowly making it part of my daily routine. Consistently reading God’s word not only taught me more about Christ, but more about myself and the world around me. I went to a Christian Camp at the start of 2025, where I watched friends become Christians and saw the Holy Spirit at work in them and in me. This led to me deciding to be baptised in June, which was one of the greatest days of my life, and since then God hasn’t slowed down.

The Promise

The Promise

Sometimes God says “no”. Of course it’s not what we want to hear, but sometimes He says it anyway. What matters is what we do next… At the moment we are in a teaching series called “Three Kings”… The king that God never wanted and yet who was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied under God’s leading. The “man after God’s own heart” and yet who committed adultery and murder. The king whose name became a byword for wisdom and yet who turned to idols… We are going to explore the virtue, vanity and outright villainy in the lives of Israel’s first three kings. This week Astrid looked at 2 Samuel 7 and talked about how we handle our disappointments.

Scripture References: 2 Samuel 7:1-29
