Marion’s Story

Marion’s story

God was guiding me through the difficult times…

As a child I attended our local C of E church with my mother and was confirmed there aged 14. Following that, a busy life took over with a job travelling around the country, marriage and supporting my husband sailing and family life.

My son was 3 and I was 2 months pregnant when my husband died whilst sailing. My mother became my rock during that time and the birth of my daughter 7 months later. Two years after my husband passed, my mother had a stroke which left her severely disabled and unable to talk. Suddenly my support had gone and it was a tough time.

My mother had been attending TBC and the offers of help were amazing. I will always be thankful for the people who were there for us. I then began attending TBC regularly and very quickly felt that I was there for a reason and that God was guiding me through the difficult times. My faith grew stronger knowing Jesus was in my life and led to baptism. I met my second husband at TBC, and although much older than me, he took me and my two young children on, and we had 30 very happy years together before he passed. He was a true man of God and many times we sing what I call ‘Ron’s hymns’ and know that he is with Jesus and that they are looking after and guiding me through my faith.
