August 2023 is now sadly known as the month containing Earth Overshoot Day. This means, possibly for the first time in human history, we have used and consumed more planetary resources than can be renewed in one year. Bad though global warming is, it is only a symptom of the way we are stripping the planet of its resources with no thought of sustainability.
